The tour will begin with your arrival into Delhi; the political capital of India - city of varied contrasts. Explore the historical marvels and their magnificence. Discover one of the Worlds most untouched and remote destinations - Bhutan. Visiting Paro and Thimpu, you will gain an insight into the religion, culture and everyday life of this magical kingdom where life revolves around the monasteries and dzongs. This tour is ideal for the first-time visitor to Bhutan, taking in all of the highlights at a relaxed pace.

Day 1: Arrive Delhi
This evening arrive at Indira Gandhi International airport. A Hi-Tours representative will meet you outside the customs gate and later escort you to hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. 

Hotel check-in time is 12:00 hrs. Rooms will be pre-assigned with VIP amenities. Upon arrival, check in to your rooms.

Day 2: Delhi
This morning enjoy an orientation tour of Delhi. 

The city consists of two parts - Old & New Delhi. Old Delhi was the capital of Muslim India between 17th and 19th century and has many mosques, monuments and forts. New Delhi, the imperial city was created by the British as the capital of India. 

Begin your day with an exploration starting in Old Delhi, visiting the Jama Masjid, the royal mosque built by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan in 1656. Enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, the spine of Old Delhi. Drive past Red fort- a UNESCO World heritage site (Closed on Monday). 

Later visit New Delhi. Drive through the majestic boulevards of New Delhi. The Rashtrapati Bhawan (Presidential Palace) is where the Viceroy once lived and now is the official residence of the President of India. View India Gate, a war memorial arch built in honor of 90,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. 

Post lunch visit Humayuns Tomb - a UNESCO World heritage site, the first great example of Mughal architecture in India, it developed to become the hallmark of the Mughal Dynasty. Next on the itinerary visit Qutab Minar - a UNESCO World heritage site, a soaring tower of victory, 72.5meter high with five distinct stories. 

Return to hotel.

Day 3: Delhi-Paro-Thimpu
Early morning transfer to airport for your flight to Thimpu -

Leave: Delhi at: 07:00 hrs by: Druk air Flight KB 205 Arrive: Paro at: 09:40 hrs 

(Note: Flight operates on Monday/Tuesday & Thursday - subject to change) 

Arrive in Paro. On arrival at Paro airport, you will be met by a Hi-Tours representative. After completion of all airport formalities, you will be driven to Thimphu covering a distance of 55 kms in approx 2 hours. 

Thimphu: As Bhutans capital, is home to many attractions and activities as mentioned above. This bustling town is home to Bhutans royal family, the civil servants, and foreign missions with representation in Bhutan. 

On arrival, check in to your room. Remaining afternoon will be at leisure for relaxation & independent activities. 

Buffet dinner at the hotel.

Day 4: Thimpu
Morning enjoy a city orientation tour of Thimpu. 

Begin your tour with a visit to Tashichoedzong, the beautiful medieval fortress/monastery which houses most of the Governments office and Kings Throne room. It is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot. Later proceed to the National Library which houses an extensive collection of Buddhist literature, with some works dating back several hundred years. Visit the nearby Institute for Zorig Chusum (commonly known as the Painting School), where a six year training course is given in the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. 

After lunch, visit the National Memorial Chorten. The building of this landmark was originally envisaged by Bhutans third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk ("the father of modern Bhutan") who has wished to erect monument to world peace and prosperity. Completed in 1974 after his untimely death, it serves both as a memorial to the Late King and as a monument to peace. 

Visit the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and privately owned crafts shops, which offer a wide range of handcrafted products, including the splendid thangkha paintings and exquisitely woven textiles for which Bhutan is famous. Also visit the folk Heritage and National Textile Museums, a fascinating testimony of Bhutans living traditions.

Day 5: Thimpu - Paro
This morning leave for Paro covering a distance of 70 kms in approx 2 hours. Arrive in Paro where and check in to your hotel. 

Post lunch; enjoy a city tour of Paro. Visit Ta Dzong. Originally built as Watch Tower, it now houses National Museum of the Kingdom and boasts antique thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons & armor, household objects and a rich assortment of natural and historic artefacts. 

After the visit, walks down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, meaning fortress of the heap of jewels which has a long and fascinating history. 

Return to hotel. Buffet dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Paro
This morning visit Drukgyel Dzong. A ruined fortress from where Bhutanese warriors fought Tibetan invaders centuries ago. 

Along the way, see the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gembo. 

Later proceed for an excursion to Taktsang Monastery (approximately 4 hours walk). It is one of the most famous of Bhutans monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called "Tigers Nest". 

Return to your hotel after the tour.

Day 7: Paro-Delhi
Morning at leisure. Later a Hi-Tours representative will escort you to Paro International airport for your return flight to Delhi. 

Departure: Paro at: 11:55hrs by: Druk Air Flight KB 204 Arrival: Delhi at: 14:10 hrs 

Note: The flight stops in Kathmandu and operates 3 days a week Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday (Subject to change) 

Arrive in Delhi. Meet & greet by A Hi-Tours representative who will escort you to hotel The Trident where rooms will be available till your International departure.
